I developed this painting from a sketch made during a walk locally.I was interested in the light coming through the trees from the distance, as if we are looking forwards to the future, to a brighter day.I developed this painting from a sketch made during a walk locally. Looking across the river, I was interested in the light shining through the distant trees , as if we are looking forwards to the future, to a brighter day.
Trying to catch the colours of the world just before the dawn made me think of creation and rebirth, and so I think of this painting as a sign of hope, a new world ready to dawn.
Some passages are brushed and dripped with thin paint, while others are laid on in thick daubs of paint, richly textured.
